Tonic tlc

Who we are, and what we do
Founded in 2008 by Edgware local Toni Cox, Tonic tlc was created as a way of honouring and connecting with the elderly members of her community, whilst providing quality care, comfort and friendship where it's needed most...
"They've done so much for us, it's a privilege to be able to do something for them..."
Whilst helping out with the annual clean at her local church in Edgware, Toni was approached by three elderly women who were looking for a regular cleaner for the home they shared together. Happy to help, Toni took the job and began cleaning for them every week.
Over time, Toni and 'the three ladies', as she lovingly referred to them, grew closer, and Toni found herself spending more and more time with them, helping out with the cooking and shopping, or simply hanging around for afternoon tea. As the years past, the ladies needs grew greater, and Toni found herself taking on more of a caring role for them, helping them wash and dress, arranging and accompanying them to medical appointments and even staying overnight to watch over them when poorly.
It was during this time that one of the ladies received her diagnosis of dementia, and after a long talk with the doctor Toni realised something; "There isn't much guidance when it comes to caring for our elderly. The done thing is to just put them in a home and let someone else take care of them, but I didn't like that idea. I couldn't bare the thought of these beautiful ladies being put in a place they didn't know, surrounded by strangers..."
Arming herself with the latest research and driven by her unique experience, Toni decided to go on a mission - to change the way we care for our elderly, starting with her own community. "I started with a few elderly members in my local area, but once word of my services got out my client list grew rapidly, and I had to start looking for new carers to help me. Amazingly, so many of my friends and family members came forward, wanting to give back to the older generations that have done so much for us. Knowing the carers personally also gave me a greater insight into who they were, and so I knew instantly who would be a perfect fit for each client."
Toni hand picks each of her carers, and her recruitment process is as powerful as it is refreshing. 'I look for good hearts,' she says, 'I can train people to be good carers, but I cannot train people to have good hearts. That's what matters most.'
It's this philosophy, and Toni's person-centred approach that has made her a favourite amongst the elderly community, with many detailed, glowing testimonials from happy clients showing just how much her and her team are needed and appreciated.
Toni now manages a large team of compassionate and dedicated carers in the North London area, who strive to re-shape the world of home care, and change the lives of our elderly community for the better.

Meet Timothy
Stepping into the future with heart.

"If Toni is the heart of Tonic, Timothy is its future."
As Toni's youngest child, Timothy spent much of his youth around the elderly clients his mother cared for. Some of his fondest childhood memories involve accompanying clients on walks, popping round for a game of dominoes on his days off school, and sitting in on afternoon tea sessions where stories were shared and laughter filled the room.
It was this early exposure that planted a seed of devotion within him, and as soon as he was legally old enough to work, Timothy made the decision to follow in his mother's footsteps and became a carer himself. What started as a natural next step soon became a calling, and he threw himself into the role with quiet dedication, volunteering his time wherever he could, and developing a profound respect for the elderly community who had become extended family.
Over the years, Timothy has worked closely alongside Toni, learning not just the practical skills of care, but the philosophy that sets Tonic tlc apart; that a good heart matters more than anything else, and that every client deserves to be treated with dignity, warmth, and genuine compassion.
Now, as Timothy steps into the role of director, he carries that philosophy with him.
Timothy is a passionate and determined leader who brings unique insights into the needs of our elderly clients. Having seen the business from every angle - as a son, a carer, a volunteer, and now as its steward - he understands what truly matters; trust, continuity, and the kind of care that feels like family
.
"I grew up watching my mum change lives, one cup of tea at a time. My promise is to honour that legacy, and to keep building on it, so that every client feels as cherished and respected as the three ladies who started it all."
Timothy is excited to lead Tonic tlc into its next chapter, and he looks forward to meeting you, learning your story, and ensuring you or your loved one receives the very best care.

What do we do?
"We take care of all your needs, no matter how big or small..."
Whether it's helping out with the household chores a few days a week or round the clock personal care, we make sure to meet your needs in whatever way best supports you physically, mentally and emotionally. It may be that you're looking for a bit of company, and someone to arrange and accompany you to medical appointments, maybe you're recovering from an injury and you're in need of temporary support, or maybe you're looking for permanent live-in carers that can be with you twenty four hours a day. Whatever your needs are, we're here to support you in every way we can.
"Preserving and enabling your independence is our priority."
We have a saying here at Tonic tlc; "If you can make the tea but you can't take it into the next room, we just carry it for you." Many of our clients use a walker or wheelchair, and so even though there are many things they can do - like pouring the tea - taking it into the next room may be difficult, and so that's where we step in. We make sure to support and enable your independence in everything we do, giving you the space and encouragement to keep on living the life you love for as long as possible.
"We support you 24/7"
We understand how quickly life can change, and it doesn't always wait for a reasonable hour either! No matter what time or day you need us, we will always have someone available to provide support and guidance.
